Two people (and also maybe Quintin read my blog). Well that's a good thing. At least I know I'm not writing for no one.
Anyway. The :o was for a few reasons. The first one was the one that I already stated. Let's move on to the others.
1. Thank God! Brandon is ok. What happened to him never should have happened but at least he is alright. He was back in school today with that Brandon "WTH" look on his face.
2. The news is getting on my nerves so much! I know I'm going to hear a few more times that Philadelphia schools need to stop with these school rivalries. But let's be clear. This had nothing to do with a rivalry and this was not a fight. It was an attack. The worst thing about this attack is that a) it happened to kids who were out trying to work on a project about promoting peace and b) it happened even after all the people who started to fight were told "these are not the guys." And who cares that Olivia Nutter (the Mayor's daughter) goes to our school. She probably has more security than any of the rest of us could ever get.
3. Maybe I over reacted. Maybe it's not as bad as I feel that it is. But I expected much more when I came into school today. I expected more of a chance to talk about it. I wasn't there but I still feel really sad. I don't have visions of Brandon falling to the ground but I will never forget the sadness that I saw in the eyes of the people that were there. I will never forget the craziness that ensued afterwards trying to get people home and now, I will never forget that I was never given the chance to get it out.
4. The AACC play though great disappointed me greatly because they did not introduce Ms. Judith Trustone and so people had no way of knowing that what she was saying was from her experiences with people who had gone through it and not her assumptions about a culture. And so some people were offended by her words not understanding that they were not actually her words they were either facts or they were messages that she was delivering from people who have not lost their voice but instead have had it stolen from them. Essentially some of what ways saying she was messages from people who had been convicted of a crime that was actually committed against them and some from people who now understand the error of their ways and wish they could go back and change their past. (Speaking of these people. I'm in love with this new movement. Though it is sad that it has to happen and I'm not sure that it will work. People who committed crimes and now will spend life trying to make meaning of it by deterring others from the destructive path they took in life.)
5. (not nearly as important as the other ones) I might be in a Math competion. If they need a 5th person then I'll do it. But if not oh well. If we won that'd be cool cause then I'd get $4,000.
I think that's all. Hope you all had a good day.

Goodbye.
